Radcliffe-on-Trent (NG12) is a large village east of Nottingham, on the south bank of the Trent, in the borough of Rushcliffe. It's known for its older detached and semi-detached homes, many with big, established gardens, alongside newer developments on the edges of the village. Neighbouring villages like Shelford, Holme Pierrepont and Cotgrave are also Rushcliffe, so the same bins, prices and tips apply. The jobs here tend to be bigger than average: whole-garden overhauls, extension and kitchen waste, and clearing larger family homes when people downsize.
Rushcliffe's only council tip is West Bridgford Recycling Centre on Rugby Road (NG2 7HX), a drive of a few miles from Radcliffe. Entry is free once your car is on the county council's register. Using a hired van? That needs the council's go-ahead a day in advance, and from 2 January 2027 all vans will have to book a time slot. It's also a small, cramped site that's known for queues at weekends and in good weather. For a large garden or house clear-out, that can mean several trips and a lot of waiting. Our West Bridgford tip guide has the opening times, the rules and the quietest times to go.
A big garden won't fit in a car boot. Lifting a lawn, cutting back a mature hedge or clearing out a double garage can mean five or six tip runs, each with a queue on Rugby Road. A licensed collection takes it all in one visit, straight from your garden or drive.
Get free Radcliffe quotes →Rushcliffe's garden waste bin is a paid subscription: £49 for the first bin and £44 for each extra one, collected fortnightly, with a break over Christmas and New Year. For regular mowing and pruning it's good value. But one bin can't take a full garden redesign, a fallen tree, soil from a new patio, or an old shed. A garden waste collection clears the lot at once. Our garden waste guide explains all the options.
Rushcliffe Borough Council charges £25.80 for the first bulky item and £12.80 for each extra one. White goods cost more: a washing machine or small fridge is £26.90 and a tall fridge freezer £38.70. The crew won't come inside, so it all has to be waiting at the kerb. For small electricals like kettles, toasters and irons, Rushcliffe will take them if you leave them on top of your blue bin on collection day. See our fridge freezer guide and appliance removal guide for more.
Home improvement is common in Radcliffe's larger properties, and it creates a lot of waste. At the tip, DIY waste is capped at a couple of 50-litre sacks a visit, and anything your builder produced is refused outright. A builders' waste collection clears rubble, plasterboard, tiles and old units in one trip, without a skip taking up the drive for a week.
Your household duty of care means you're responsible for your waste until it's disposed of properly. If an unlicensed collector dumps it, you can be fined. Check any company holds an Environment Agency waste carrier licence before they take anything. The firms we pass Radcliffe jobs to are all registered, and each one hands you a waste transfer note as proof. Our fly-tipping guide explains why that piece of paper matters.
| Job | Typical 2026 cost |
|---|---|

| Half a van of garage or loft contents | £60–£150 |
| Full van, such as a kitchen refit's waste | £150–£300 |
| Large garden overhaul (one-off) | From £60, by volume |
| Downsizing clearance | By size (see guide) |
Bigger homes and gardens usually mean bigger loads, so it's worth describing the job fully when you ask for quotes. That way the price you're given is the price you pay. Comparing a few quotes for your actual job is free through us.
