Mansfield Recycling Centre on Kestral Road, Mansfield is the Nottinghamshire County Council tip for Mansfield, Mansfield Woodhouse, Rainworth and the villages around them. If you've searched for "mansfield tip" or "mansfield recycling centre", this is the site. It's one of 12 recycling centres the county runs, and it follows the same registration rules and seasonal hours as the rest.
Mansfield is the largest town in the north of the county, and the Kestral Road site is the main tip for the whole Mansfield district, so weekend late mornings get busy. A weekday or an early start saves the queue. The quirk here is plasterboard: unlike most county tips, Mansfield won't take it, so that has to go to Kirkby or Bilsthorpe instead. Bins and bulky collections for the town are run separately by Mansfield District Council.Clearing a whole house in Mansfield?
It's usually far more than a few tip runs, especially with vans needing a booked slot from 2 January 2027. See our house clearance guide for costs and free quotes from licensed local companies.
Mansfield tip opening times
It opens at 8am every day of the year and the closing time moves with the season. The only days it's shut are 25 December, 26 December and 1 January.
| Months | Opens | Closes |
|---|---|---|
| January and February | 8am | 4pm |
| March | 8am | 6pm |
| April to September | 8am | 8pm |
| October | 8am | 6pm |
| November and December | 8am | 4pm |
From November the 4pm close comes round fast, so a winter trip after work usually won't make it — leave time to unload before the gates shut.
More than a car can hold?
Let us know what you've got and we'll fetch up to 3 free, no-obligation quotes from licensed Mansfield collectors who do the heavy work.
Get free quotes →Registering your vehicle
Register before you go, because unregistered vehicles get turned away at the gate. It's free on the county council recycling centre page or on 0300 500 80 80, and covers every county site. You can register two vehicles, and vans need extra steps — from 2 January 2027 every van must book a slot. The Calverton guide has the full van rules, which apply here too.
What you can take
This site takes the usual household range: furniture, mattresses, appliances, garden waste, metal, cardboard, glass, textiles, batteries and small amounts of DIY waste. The DIY limit is two 50-litre bags per visit, with no more than four visits in any four weeks, and asbestos, tyres and trade waste are never accepted. The full item-by-item list is in our Calverton tip guide, and the council keeps the official list.
Worth knowing for Mansfield:
- No plasterboard here. Mansfield is the one county tip that doesn't take plasterboard. Take it to another site such as Kirkby or Bilsthorpe instead.
If you'd rather not go
A tip trip isn't always the cheapest answer for a single heavy item once you add fuel and time. Consider:
- Mansfield District Council bulky collection. A paid collection you book online, charged per item, left out for the crew. See our council bulky collection guide.
- A licensed private collection. A crew comes to your door, carries things out and takes the lot in one go, often within a day or two. It costs more than the council but suits anything heavy, upstairs or urgent.

Only use a registered waste carrier
Your waste is your responsibility until it's disposed of properly. If you hand it to an unregistered carrier and it's later fly-tipped, you can be fined. Before anyone takes your waste, check them on the Environment Agency register and get a receipt. More in our fly-tipping guide.
Larger jobs go through the same form: a house clearance, a garden clear-out, builders' waste or a skip.
